Personal Injury Claim – Case Study
A waitress who injured herself when she fell on some wet steps while at work has been awarded more than £6,000 compensation.
The accident happened while she was returning to the restaurant kitchen with some used plates. There was water on the steps at the time.
She fell down and injured her spine. The injury took 18 months to fully heal. She was off work and needed help with domestic chores for more than two months. She needed a course of osteopathy treatment to repair the damage to her spine.
The waitress made a personal injury claim against the restaurant owners claiming they were negligent under the health and safety at work regulations. The owners accepted liability.
The two sides agreed an out-of-court settlement of £6,549 to compensate the waitress for her pain, suffering and loss of amenity.
